The price comparison, with its limits
The price comparison, with its limits
Unit cost divides the listed bottle price by its volume. Delivery, import charges and differing lots are not normalized away; stock does not change quality. These are comparison references, not a claim about the cheapest available oil in all Malaysia. [53, 37]
The earlier product-quality rubric is preserved separately from the active reputation rubric. It prioritizes sensory performance, grade evidence, freshness and traceability. The supplied external assessments have incomplete or disputed sensory/lot evidence; reproducing their arithmetic does not establish those judgments. A producer’s testing program can support traceability while still leaving the purchased bottle’s measurements unknown. None of the external provisional totals is adopted as a Refer score. [4, 9, 34, 37, 79]
Criterion
Weight
Reason
Sensory quality
30%
Flavor quality and absence of sensory defects matter; mild versus robust is preference. [37]
The actual harvest/lot and storage protection matter more than a brand’s age. [7, 34, 37]
Traceability and production
20%
Identify the exact origin, producer and lot without treating a country or marketing claim as quality. [10, 25, 37]
Missing evidence stays unknown; it is not zero, an assumed middle score or an excuse to renormalize partial scores into a winner. Availability, owner country and price are disclosures rather than quality criteria. The documented food recency exemption uses actual harvest/batch freshness instead of a launch-age score. [34, 37, 55]
The rubric's calibration is retained for future scoring; these anchors do not mean that any oil in this comparison has earned a score. A harvest disclosure program alone cannot satisfy the documented recent-harvest anchor. [34, 40]
Reading acidity, certification and freshness claims
Reading acidity, certification and freshness claims
The IOC extra-virgin category’s acidity ceiling is 0.8 g oleic acid per 100 g. Refined olive oil has a lower acidity ceiling of 0.3 g per 100 g, so a low number alone cannot identify EVOO or prove a better oil. Grade also depends on other chemical and sensory characteristics. [1, 2]
Costa 100% Italiano describes specifications including acidity at most 0.6%, peroxide at most 15 meq O2/kg and total phenols at least 150 mg/kg. These are promises about a specification, not the measured values of a current Malaysian lot. Terra Creta’s generic Estate acidity statement must not be assigned to its distinct PDO oil. [5, 6, 24]
Robinvale’s exact Murray Gold page says pressing within 8 hours, its general process page says within 12 hours, and its story page says within 24 hours. Treat these as producer descriptions of practice, not measurements verified for the bottle on the shelf. The published olive-storage study supports the importance of timely processing; it does not test these Malaysian bottles or establish product-specific health benefits. [3, 4, 7, 12, 49]
COR and Costa describe bottle/batch lookup mechanisms; ask to see the actual output for the oil you intend to buy. No current bottle-level result or harvest year was inspected here, and no exact award is used as a substitute for one. [9, 10, 25, 34, 37]
What we did not rank, and why
What we did not rank, and why
Refined/pure/light oils, pomace oils, flavored preparations, avocado and other non-olive oils are outside the plain EVOO field. Exclusion is a category boundary, not a declaration that these oils are unsafe or unsuitable for their intended use. [1, 2, 38]
Candidate / adjacent line

Naturel Organic; Robinvale Late Harvest
Separate oils; their standard/Murray Gold evidence is not silently transferred. [15, 39]
Filippo Berio Fruttato/Robusto; 100% Italiano

Colavita 100% Italian; Mediterranean
Distinct products; Premium Selection is the comparison reference with the matched local retail title. [20, 21, 38]
Terra generic Estate; Platinum; Grand Cru
Separate lines; generic acidity and alternative marketplace prices do not establish the PDO bottle’s characteristics. [5, 6, 32]
COR Global Blend; Reserve varieties; Graza Sizzle
Other formulations or uses; mixed-variant prices are not assigned to the listed exact option. [26, 30, 33]
Older Frankies Organic/monovarietal; La Tourangelle Koroneiki
Historical/different identities are retained in the research record, without importing their assessments into the currently checked lines. [28, 29, 39]
Grove namesake leads
Identity remains unresolved; no substitute oil or negative quality verdict is inferred. [39]
Rafael Salgado/RS; Carbonell
Retained additional leads outside this bounded field; no negative quality verdict is implied. [58, 79]
Evidence boundaries and refresh triggers
Evidence boundaries and refresh triggers
The comparison uses producer descriptions, retailer offers, the IOC category definitions and a published processing study. It does not represent a blind tasting, an authenticated bottle inspection or a current-lot laboratory comparison. Flavor, specification, certification-program and retailer-origin claims retain those scopes. Corporate control records now supplement the original product-page audit; their dates, jurisdictions and remaining ultimate-owner uncertainties are disclosed below. Actual harvest/age remains unknown. [1, 7, 34, 37, 79, 55]
Prices marked † for Naturel and Basso are promotional offers; sale validity needs checking. Offers indexed more than 45 days ago are historical. Listed prices are evidence of an offer, including cached or indexed offers; they are not a checkout quotation or a stock guarantee. A repeated launch/founding date is not useful freshness evidence for these oils. Owner/control jurisdictions describe documented holding chains; ultimate investor citizenship and several majority owners remain unverified. The actual bottle’s harvest/age is unverified throughout. [14, 16, 19, 21, 32, 34, 50, 55, 56, 57]
The historical shelf-photo location was Village Grocer, Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya. Capture dates and present shelf prices/stock are unknown. Newly checked Jaya Grocer listings are separate retail evidence and do not change that historical location. [11, 19, 79]
Refresh a buying reference when the offer, selected variant or bottle lot changes. A defensible numerical quality ranking would require comparable exact-product sensory and applicable chemistry/freshness evidence, with missing-criterion treatment resolved under the original rubric. The brand-reputation order is usable now as editorial guidance; a numerical bottle-quality order still requires that additional evidence. [79, 102][34, 36, 53, 37]
Ownership is separate from oil origin
Ownership is separate from oil origin
The owner/control column follows the documented holding chain rather than the oil’s country of production or a company’s office. A controlling corporation’s jurisdiction is not a claim that every ultimate investor has that citizenship; ownership is a disclosure and never earns quality points. [55]
Brand
Control trail and remaining limit
Filippo Berio
Salov reports the Bright Food chain; its earlier report identifies Chinese state control. The ultimate-control statement is dated, while the newer group report confirms the group relationship. [41]
Bertolli
Deoleo’s current page reports CVC VI with 56.961% indirect votes, filed 13 June 2024; that exact vehicle is organized in Jersey. Ultimate fund-investor citizenship remains unknown. [42]
Costa d’Oro, both lines
Avril identifies Costa as its brand/company; its French agricultural shareholder governance supports the French control inference. A current formal majority record was not obtained, so its displayed owner country is Unverified. [43, 55]
California Olive Ranch; Lucini
Cobram’s FY2026 report confirms the completed 100% COR acquisition on 26 March 2026 and the Lucini portfolio. The controlling corporate parent is incorporated in Australia; ultimate shareholder nationality is not established. [44]
Naturel
Lam Soon Malaysia’s FY2024 report names its 60.2% Malaysian immediate holding company and Singapore ultimate holding company. The column identifies that corporate jurisdiction; ultimate individual citizenship is unverified. [45]
La Diva
Hosen’s FY2025 report identifies LaDiva and Singapore incorporation. Its shareholder disclosures do not establish a majority owner’s country; overlapping spouse interests are not counted twice. [46]
Basso
The producer’s 2020 profile names a 100% Basso Invest ownership chain with an Italian legal address. A current control register was not obtained, so current owner country stays unverified. [47]
Colavita; Robinvale
The checked pages describe family operations without establishing current majority-owner citizenship. Operating origin alone is insufficient. [48]
Terra Creta
Melissa Kikizas’ issuer history identifies the acquisition, but a current majority/shareholder-country record was not obtained. [51]
Frankies; Graza; La Tourangelle; Ybarra
Current majority-owner country was not established from the checked sources. Founder location, producer identity and oil origin are retained separately. [51]
The cited regular prices would put Basso at RM6.50 per 100 ml and Naturel at RM7.41, compared with La Diva at RM7.46. That reverses Naturel/Basso's listed promotional cost order without supplying a quality order; these regular references also need checkout confirmation. [56]
How the brand reputation order was set
How the brand reputation order was set
This edition ranks the documented olive-oil reputation of nineteen researched brands, with the original product-quality rubric preserved as history. It is an evidence-based editorial order rather than a survey of public name recognition. Independent recognition weighs 40%, quality assurance 30%, olive-oil experience 20%, and producer transparency 10%. Weights were fixed before new reputation searches. [79]
Recognition receives the largest share because support outside the seller matters; assurance follows because verification is more durable than one award. Experience is capped so old age alone cannot dominate, and disclosure receives a smaller share to limit overlap with assurance. The unit of judgment is the brand: Costa’s two lines share one assessment, while COR and Lucini cannot inherit one another’s awards. [79, 59, 102]
Each criterion uses coarse evidence bands from 0 to 4. The internal index is 25 × (0.40 I + 0.30 Q + 0.20 E + 0.10 T); it only generates the ordinal order. A maximum band means the evidence threshold was met, not perfect oil or complete certainty. Equal indices share competition ranks, with alphabetical order inside ties. The two Costa rows repeat one brand position. [79, 102]

These are author judgments of recovered public support. Recent recognition starts in 2021; historical experience is a separate criterion. Organizer or certifier records establish outside awards/verification, while producer statements remain attributed. No qualifying finding means a thin recovered record, not a failed oil. Shelf stock, imports, price, nationality and popularity do not enter the calculation. [79, 104]
The ranges change one band for one brand while holding the rest fixed; they are sensitivity scenarios, not confidence intervals. A one-band change moves the index by 10 for recognition, 7.5 for assurance, 5 for experience and 2.5 for transparency. Close positions can tie or reverse, so the table supports a starting preference rather than a precise measured quality gap. [103]
What supports the reputation judgments
What supports the reputation judgments
COR has separately identified competition recognition and a current California commission grade-verification record. Lucini has repeated named competition recognition; its seller-described sensory certification was not independently matched to a current certifier client record here. Shared corporate ownership is not shared award credit, and the California verification scope excludes Italian Lucini. QR-program credit is for the documented disclosure mechanism, not inspected bottle results. [59, 60, 61, 63, 64]
Terra’s recognition spans organizer records and years, but the checked Grand Cru awards are not Estate PDO awards. Terra and Costa expose lot-input mechanisms; no current lot was entered. Colavita, Filippo Berio and La Tourangelle have current NAOOA product records for specified North American lines; its paid shelf-sampling seal is distinct from a blind tasting and does not certify every Malaysian bottle. [62, 65, 71]
Bertolli Originale has a named DLG award; Basso appears in London’s indexed Gold table with an unresolved archive-year discrepancy. The Italian comparative record supports specific regional lines of Colavita, Filippo Berio, Bertolli and Costa. Swiss findings for Bertolli and Filippo Berio were mixed, with weak labeling; neither was one of that table’s virgin-grade downgrades. These facts prevent presenting reputation as a universal clean bill for every formulation. [66, 67, 68, 72]
Original culinary recommendations support COR, Graza, La Tourangelle and Frankies. The Frankies recommendation concerns Organic, not the currently compared Everyday blend. Specialist taste recommendations and affiliate-funded reviews are useful attributed reputation evidence, rather than Refer tasting or laboratory results. [69, 28]
Heritage is specific to olive oil: La Tourangelle’s old nut-mill founding date is not imported as olive-oil experience. Robinvale’s estate history, Ybarra’s olive-oil record and Naturel’s documented offering support experience, while their recent independent record recovered here is thinner. La Diva’s actual producer remains unresolved. The search has language, indexing and submission biases; lower ranks can change with new qualifying evidence. [70, 104]
The read-only review led to a broader field: Monini, Borges, Olitalia and Cobram Estate are now included irrespective of unverified Malaysian offers. Additional Milan records changed Filippo Berio and Costa’s recognition bands under the original criteria. Food Network’s comparative recommendation and Bon Appétit’s specialist favorite earn different recognition bands because their methods differ. PDO-origin claims alone were not substituted for a current certifier-issued EVOO verification record. [75, 76, 77, 78, 105, 80, 81, 102]
COR and Lucini share Cobram group control, as also disclosed on the short ranking page; their independent brand records remain separate. COR’s recognition across award years has additional organizer corroboration. [106, 107]

Reference images
Reference images show the named producer/retailer packaging, including labelled size and regional differences. They do not verify the Malaysian bottle, harvest, batch quality, price or stock; the Basso/Bertolli local lines remain unconfirmed, and La Tourangelle’s current producer page pictures Bold & Bright while its description still says Bright & Peppery. Original research summary
California Olive Ranch leads this field for documented brand reputation, followed jointly by Cobram Estate and Filippo Berio. The order weighs independent recognition, quality assurance, olive-oil experience and producer transparency; nearby ranks are sensitive to evidence-band judgments. These are brand ranks, not measurements of the bottles for sale. [79, 83, 84, 85, 102, 103]
For Malaysian shoppers comparing everyday, dipping and finishing oils, the named line is a buying reference. Awards for another line support the brand’s record without becoming that bottle’s award. Lower placement can reflect a thinner recovered public record; price and availability do not move the ranks. [79, 104, 102]
Assessment criteria
The strongest documented olive-oil brand reputation: independent recognition, credible quality-assurance practice, established olive-oil experience and clear producer/product disclosure. This is an editorial ranking of the brand's public record, not a blind tasting or a guarantee about a Malaysian bottle.
Independent recognition — 40% · Organizer-confirmed olive-oil awards or independent comparative taste/test results from 2021 onward; repeated recognition is stronger than one result. Certifier membership is assessed separately. Historical controversies remain disclosed with sample/date limits.
Quality assurance — 30% · Current third-party olive-oil verification and meaningful consumer-accessible batch/origin systems. A paid industry seal is distinct from an independent blind taste result and does not certify an unchecked Malaysian lot.
Olive-oil experience — 20% · Documented ongoing olive-oil production/sourcing expertise and operating history. Age is a limited reputational record, not freshness or a reason to assume product superiority.
Producer transparency — 10% · Identifiable producer/sourcing, clearly separated lines and usable origin/process disclosures. Disclosure is assessed at brand level; uncertain local product identity remains a buying qualification.

ResearchRecorded 2026-10-03
Terra Creta's separate Estate PDO Kolymvari page identifies a Koroneiki oil from certified Kolymvari groves. Its inspected text supplies no numeric acidity; this is absence on this page, not proof no specification exists elsewhere.

ResearchRecorded 2021-09-28, 2026-10-03
Rotondi et al.'s 2021 study of 228 olive batches across three seasons and seven mills found higher free acidity/peroxide/K232 and lower phenolics/positive sensory attributes with longer pre-milling storage. The study does not test these Malaysian products or establish product-specific health effects.

ResearchRecorded 2026-10-03
Village Grocer Gamuda Walk's accessible cooking-ingredients collection lists Basso EVOO 1 L at promotional RM58.99, reduced from RM65.00. The generic local title does not prove the Classic sub-line match.

ResearchRecorded 2026-10-03
California Olive Ranch states all its olive oils are certified extra virgin by Applied Sensory, and its 100% California lines also carry an OOCC seal. This is the company's program statement, not an independently inspected current-lot certificate or a numeric quality score.

Robinvale Murray Gold: exact line and producer claims
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Robinvale's exact Murray Gold page describes an estate-grown varietal blend, robust/pungent flavor and pressing within 8 hours. Its general process page instead says within 12 hours; both are producer practice claims, not verified times for a purchased bottle.
Filippo Berio describes standard Extra Virgin as balanced, with fruit/grass notes; Robusto, Delicato, Organic and 100% Italiano are separate offerings. Their descriptions do not establish the exact Malaysian bottle formulation or test results.
Village Grocer 1st Avenue lists standard Filippo Berio EVOO 500 ml at RM49.55; the indexed page shows Out of stock alongside contradictory generic In Stock text. The index was crawled about three weeks earlier; current checkout stock is unverified.
Naturel: producer range identity and ambiguous wording
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Lam Soon identifies Naturel standard EVOO separately from Pure, Extra Light and limited-edition Arbequina oils, and describes its olive-oil range as Spanish. The old producer copy uses ambiguous fig-leaf wording; no ingredient-label photograph was checked, so no added-flavor or cultivar claim is adopted for the Malaysian bottle.
B.I.G. Publika lists standard Naturel EVOO 750 ml at promotional RM42.69, formerly RM55.60. The retailer collection index was crawled about three weeks earlier; listing is not proof of current local stock or sale validity.
Essentials.MY lists La Diva EVOO 1 L at RM74.60, with ingredients 100% extra virgin olive oil and retailer-declared origin Italy. This does not identify its actual mill, majority owner or current batch chemistry; the retailer also markets other olive-oil grades.
Bertolli describes its US Rich Taste EVOO as fruity and suitable for dressings, dipping and cooking. That exact name is absent from the Malaysian generic listing reviewed here, so this flavor description is not transferred automatically.
Jaya Grocer Plaza Jelutong lists generic Bertolli EVOO 500 ml at RM43.00 and says pickup unavailable; delivery stock and Rich Taste identity remain unconfirmed. The index was crawled five days earlier.
Colavita lists Premium Selection, Premium Italian, Mediterranean, Organic, Spanish and Greek oils separately. A generic Colavita EVOO title must not inherit evidence for a different line.
Village Grocer KL Gateway lists Colavita Premium Select 500 ml at RM43.05, separately from 100 Italian 500 ml at RM48.55. The collection index was crawled about three weeks earlier and direct fetching failed; stock is unverified.
Basso Classic: blend identity and local match limit
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Basso Classic is producer-described as an EU EVOO blend from Spain, Italy and Greece with medium fruitiness. The generic Malaysian Basso listing does not establish it is Classic; taste and origin evidence cannot be silently transferred.
Costa d'Oro L'Extra is producer-described as balanced and moderately pungent, with formats including 1 L. This is separate from 100% Italiano, unfiltered, Squeeze and refined-blend products.
Costa 100% Italiano: producer specification limits
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Costa d'Oro 100% Italiano (formerly identified as L'Italiano) states Italian olives and STP 8 DNV specifications: acidity at most 0.6%, peroxide at most 15 meq O2/kg and total phenols at least 150 mg/kg. These are stated specification thresholds, not measured results for a Malaysian lot. English text was indexed; the Italian page also displayed the fuller specification table.
Costa's traceability site accepts a bottle's batch number for both 100% Italiano and L'Extra. No particular batch number was supplied or checked in this session.
Graza Drizzle: exact line and producer description
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Graza Drizzle is producer-described as a 500 ml finishing EVOO from single-origin Picual olives in Jaén, Spain, harvested early in the season. Seasonal timing does not establish the year or freshness of a Malaysian bottle.
Lucini Organic Premium Select: line and shipping limit
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Lucini Organic Premium Select states Italian olives and a green, almond/pepper flavor profile, with Applied Sensory certification described by the seller. Its direct US store does not ship outside the US; Malaysian landed cost and bottle harvest were not confirmed.
Frankies now presents Everyday Oil as a 1 L Sicilian blend of Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla and Cerasuola. The checked page does not establish that the earlier Organic/monovarietal reference is this same formulation; no organic status is adopted for this entry.
La Tourangelle product page title now says Organic Bold & Bright, while its description retains Organic Bright & Peppery and specifies Spanish Picual paired with Arbequina. Its separate organic collection describes light-blocking cans and a testing program, not batch measurements.
COR 100% California: exact line and shipping limit
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
California Olive Ranch 100% California identifies California-grown oil and external certification; it is distinct from Global Blend and Reserve varietal products. The direct US store does not ship outside the US. No purchased bottle, harvest year or lot certificate was inspected.
Ybarra Gran Selección: contradictory grade boilerplate
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Ybarra's Gran Selección Afrutado 750 ml shop page describes Arbequina/Hojiblanca and cold extraction, but also contains contradictory refined-oil boilerplate despite its EVOO ingredient line. Its peroxide/UV figures are grade ceilings, not batch results. Verify the actual label and exact line; a generic Malaysian Ybarra bottle is not this evidence.
A Shopee Malaysia exact Terra Creta Estate PDO Kolymvari 500 ml listing shows RM132.40 and Sold Out. The index was crawled about a month earlier; checkout stock, seller authorization and lot freshness were not verified. Platinum, Grand Cru and generic Estate are different lines.
Shopee Malaysia search mixes Graza Sizzle/Drizzle sizes and COR Global Blend/100% California in shared listings. Their headline prices cannot be assigned to the specific Drizzle or 100% California variant without selecting it; no variant-specific price or current stock is adopted.
No purchased Malaysian bottle or lot-specific harvest date was inspected for any entry. Harvest/age is therefore unverified throughout; a recurring food line’s launch/founding age is not a quality proxy, and a best-before date is not a harvest date.
On-file editorial lot-evidence audit and the documented food recency exemption.
No current exact-SKU Malaysian offer was confirmed for Costa L’Extra, Costa 100% Italiano, Frankies Everyday, Lucini Organic Premium Select or La Tourangelle Bright & Peppery/Bold & Bright. COR and Graza have mixed-variant marketplace leads only; Ybarra has a generic local lead, not a matched Gran Selección offer. Price/stock remain unverified, not unavailable.
On-file bounded offer-search audit on 2026-10-04; no checkout or seller contact.
Freshness-oriented buying judgment: choose an intact bottle whose exact harvest/lot information can be checked, prefer protection from heat/light, and buy a size you can use rather than selecting by country prestige, lowest acidity or a generic brand award.
On-file editorial buying inference from the stated process, lot-disclosure and storage evidence.
EVOO-1.0 priorities remain sensory quality 30%, grade/chemistry 25%, freshness/protection 25%, traceability/production 20%, totaling 100%. No adopted overall score: incomplete independent sensory/lot evidence and disputed calibration cannot support a common best-to-worst order. Availability, ownership country and price do not add quality points.
On-file pre-research rubric EVOO-1.0 and reconciliation of the preserved consolidated external research.

EVOO scope and excluded grades
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
Excluded grades: refined/pure/light, pomace, flavored oils and non-olive oils do not meet this plain EVOO comparison scope. Unresolved lines remain named in the exclusions/identity notes rather than inheriting another product’s score or formulation.
On-file EVOO scope and exact-line reconciliation; applicable IOC categories and producer ranges cited.
Grove, Olitalia, Borges and Monini leads, plus Naturel Organic, Robinvale Late Harvest, earlier Frankies Organic/monovarietal and La Tourangelle Koroneiki references, were considered in retained research but not established as the exact current lines assessed here. Their omission is an evidence/scope decision, not a negative quality judgment.
On-file method/shortlist record; no adopted product score.
40
Original rubric calibration anchors
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-03, 2026-10-04
EVOO-1.0 calibration descriptions use 25, 50 and 75 anchors. Sensory progresses from limited positive independent evidence to competent clean balance to strong exact-product complexity; chemistry from limited conformity to multi-parameter support to strong current-lot evidence; freshness from weak harvest timing to meaningful process/harvest evidence to documented recent harvest and protection; traceability from broad identity to producer/region to strong lot/origin chain. A higher score needs evidence beyond the 75 anchor. These definitions are not adopted scores.
On-file method/shortlist record; no adopted product score.

Filippo Berio: Salov and Bright Food control
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Filippo Berio is a Salov brand. Salov's 2024 report places the group under Bright Food; its earlier ownership report describes Bright Food as controlling Salov and 100% controlled by Shanghai SASAC. This supports a Chinese control trail, distinct from the oil's growing/bottling origin; the older state-ownership statement is dated, not a newly obtained shareholder register.
Deoleo's current voting-rights page reports CVC Capital Partners VI Limited with 56.961% indirect voting rights, notification registered 2024-06-13. The same legal entity identifies its organization as Jersey (Channel Islands) in a 2022 SEC filing. Jersey here is the majority-control vehicle's jurisdiction, not proof of the nationality of all fund investors; the SEC filing concerns another investment and supplies no Deoleo percentage.
Avril's issuer release identifies Costa d'Oro as owned by Avril, and the current group brand roster retains Costa d'Oro. Avril's current governance statement describes controlling limited partners mainly from the French oilseed/protein industry, including FIDOP, FOP and Fondation Avril. France is a control-trail inference from those shareholders/governance, not the Italian oil origin or office location; a current Costa share percentage was not obtained.
Cobram Estate Olives' 2026 issuer annual report states completion on 26 March 2026 of the acquisition of 100% of California Olive Ranch's ordinary shares; it identifies Lucini within the acquired portfolio. Note 1 states Cobram is incorporated and domiciled in Australia. Australia identifies the controlling corporate parent's jurisdiction; this does not claim all ultimate listed-company investors are Australian or change California/Italian oil origins.
Lam Soon Malaysia's 2024 report identifies Lam Soon Strategic Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia) as its immediate holding company with 60.2% and Lam Soon Cannery Private Limited, incorporated in Singapore, as the ultimate holding company. This supplies Naturel's Singapore corporate-control trail through Lam Soon; it does not establish every ultimate individual shareholder's citizenship or substitute for its Spanish oil-origin claim.
Hosen's current brand page and FY2025 report identify LaDiva as a house brand. Hosen Group Ltd is incorporated and domiciled in Singapore. Its 18 March 2026 share register lists Lim Hai Cheok 20.01%, Chong Poh Soon 19.96% and Lim Kim Eng 5.48% direct interests; spouses' deemed interests overlap and must not be added again. These facts identify a Singapore issuer and family interests, but do not establish a majority owner's country/citizenship. LaDiva owner country remains unverified; the actual Italian mill/lot remains unestablished.
Basso's own 2020 company profile says Basso Fedele & Figli is 100% owned by Basso Invest Srl, whose owners are Basso family members; it gives an Italian legal/tax address for that holding company. This is a dated Italian corporate-owner record, not a verified current share register or proof of ultimate family citizenship. Current owner country remains unverified pending a newer control record.
Colavita and Robinvale: family-ownership evidence limits
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Colavita's current about page describes family-owned Colavita USA and a Colavita-family-managed group with Italian and US facilities. Robinvale's current story describes a family operation. Neither checked source establishes a current majority share register and owner citizenship; Italian or Australian operating origin is not used as majority-owner country.
Robinvale's current story page additionally says processing within 24 hours, alongside the previously recorded 8-hour exact Murray Gold and 12-hour general-process descriptions. These are differing producer scope statements; no actual Malaysian lot's processing interval was established.
Current offers versus historical price/stock evidence
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
The older Robinvale offer is retained only as historical cached evidence [52]. No current Robinvale price/stock was established, so its short-table price and unit cost are withdrawn. Terra’s sold-out indexed offer provides a dated price, without establishing current marketplace stock [32]. A review date is not a refreshed checkout observation.
On-file offer-age and stock-scope reconciliation; review date is not a stock observation.
Ownership checking identifies further leads without adopting unsupported current majority-country labels: Terra Creta appears in Melissa Kikizas' 2025 issuer history as a 2021 acquisition, but no current majority/shareholder-nationality record was obtained. For Frankies, Graza, La Tourangelle and Ybarra, the checked product pages do not establish current majority-owner country. Their owner fields remain explicitly unverified; production country, founder location and headquarters are not substitutes.
Bounded audit with a producer-issued acquisition history; no unsupported majority-country inference.
Robinvale: retained historical offer and arithmetic
RetailerRecorded 2026-10-03
The earlier indexed Jaya Grocer Empire Shopping Gallery offer for Murray Gold 500 ml was RM51.90 (RM10.38 per 100 ml). Its crawl was shown as three months old when reviewed on 2026-10-03. This is retained historical offer evidence only; on 2026-10-04 no current price/stock was established.
Deoleo's current own-brand roster identifies Bertolli within its olive-oil portfolio. This supports the Bertolli olive-oil connection to the Deoleo voting-control record, without generalizing to unrelated pasta-sauce or spread businesses using the same trademark.
Consistent corporate-control country disclosure policy
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
The control column requires an explicit majority/voting or formal holding-company chain, retaining its filing date and distinguishing corporate jurisdiction from ultimate investor citizenship. COR/Lucini Australia, Naturel Singapore and Bertolli CVC VI Jersey use those records; Filippo Berio's dated Bright Food control chain is retained with its ultimate-control date limit. Costa's current brand roster and older owned-by-Avril release do not supply an equivalent current formal majority record, so its displayed country is withdrawn to Unverified, like dated Basso and acquisition-only Terra. No ownership changes quality or alphabetical order.
On-file revised display policy; generic group ownership without an equivalent formal majority record stays unverified.
Naturel RM42.69/750 ml and Basso RM58.99/1 L are promotional listed prices, not regular-price promises. Their cited before-promotion prices imply Naturel 55.60 × 100 ÷ 750 = RM7.41/100 ml and Basso 65.00 × 100 ÷ 1000 = RM6.50/100 ml (half-up two places); La Diva's reference remains RM7.46/100 ml. Removing these two promotions swaps Naturel/Basso's cost order in this subset, while neither ordering supplies a quality ranking.
On-file half-up Decimal arithmetic; no current sale or checkout claim.
Buying-reference policy: offers indexed more than 45 days earlier are historical rather than current price references. Newer indexed or sold-out offers can remain dated price evidence but still do not prove current stock or checkout price. The three-month-old Robinvale cache is historical; Terra's approximately one-month-old sold-out index is a dated price reference. Today's review date does not reset an offer's observation/crawl age.
On-file 45-day age discipline; a new review does not refresh an old observation.
Additional olive-oil candidate leads and exclusion scope
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
Rafael Salgado/RS, Carbonell and Cobram Estate were additional candidate leads considered during the challenge. This edition does not establish comparable exact-line sensory, lot and Malaysian offer evidence for them; they remain explicit exclusions/leads, without a negative quality or availability verdict.
On-file challenger leads and author shortlist decision; these are unassessed candidates, not inferior oils.

NYIOOC 2026: COR and Lucini kept distinct
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
The organizer reports 2026 Silver awards for COR 100% California, Miller’s Blend and Arbosana, and Gold for Lucini Premium Select and Organic Premium Select. The article’s Gold headline refers to Lucini lines; portfolio totals are not credited wholly to COR. These are submitted competition oils, not inspected Malaysian lots.
The organizer’s 2026 results identify Gold for COR Reserve Arbequina and Lucini Organic Premium Select, and Bronze for conventional Lucini Premium Select. Recognition attaches to these submitted lines and cannot guarantee other formulations or lots.
The organizer’s 2025 winner list names Lucini Premium Select Organic and conventional Premium Select. This audit uses confirmed winner inclusion without assigning an unresolved medal category.
Terra Creta: recognition across years and organizers
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Olive Japan’s 2021 winner list includes Terra Creta Grand Cru and Organic. ESAO’s 2024/25 resolution gives Grand Cru Koroneiki the second Greek prize. These support the brand’s record; neither is transferred as an Estate PDO award.
The Olive Oil Commission of California lists COR in good standing for 2025/26. Its mandatory sampling program checks chemistry, sensory grade and labeling. The California-grown scope supports the 100% California reference; it does not cover Italian Lucini or COR Global Blend.
The standards pages describe smart-label QR access to harvest season, bottling date, origin and oil-specific test results. No bottle QR or output was inspected. Applied Sensory certification is producer-described; this audit did not obtain a current lab-issued Lucini client record. Lucini receives disclosure credit, without treating the seller’s certification claim as certifier-confirmed verification.
The current certifier records include Colavita Premium Selection since 2021, Filippo Berio EVOO since 2017, and La Tourangelle Organic Bright & Peppery since 2015. The North American program charges seal fees and samples shelf oils for physicochemical conformity; certification is product-specific and does not test every lot or guarantee Malaysian bottles. Membership or supporter lists do not establish certification. COR, Lucini and Bertolli were not on the current certified list checked here.
The March 2025 bulletin reproduces a positive comparative group including Filippo Berio 100% Italiano, Bertolli Originale, Colavita Selezione Italiana, Costa Il Grezzo Italiano and L’Extra. These are named Italian-market samples, not all brands’ formulations or Malaysian lots; no external numerical test total is adopted as our score.
DLG’s product record identifies Bertolli Originale and a 2025 Gold quality award. This is a named German-market submission; it does not establish that a Malaysian generic Bertolli bottle is Originale or US Rich Taste.
London: Basso award-list attribution and year limit
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
The organizer’s indexed Gold winner table names Basso Fedele & Figli, produced by Basso Fedele & Figli Srl. Its archive title says Winners 2024 while its hostname says 2025; exact year and product-detail fetch remain unresolved. The listing supports one recent positive brand record, not a confirmed Malaysian Classic award or a multi-year award count.
Original culinary recommendations, with line limits
ResearchRecorded 2026-10-04
Sporked’s January 2026 comparative tasting recommends COR 100% California and Graza Drizzle. Bon Appétit’s February 2022 specialist article favors COR Global Blend and La Tourangelle Organic EVOO. Food Network recommends Frankies Organic, not Everyday. These support reputation; culinary taste recommendations and affiliate-funded articles are not laboratory conformity tests.
Producer/issuer records establish COR 1998, Lucini 1997, Costa 1968, Filippo Berio 1867, Basso 1904, Ybarra 1842 and Colavita olive-oil trade by 1979. Terra’s producer gives 2001 without an exact anniversary, so the 25-year band is not assumed. Robinvale describes olive-estate experience since 1946, not a bottle launch date. Frankies’ own PR representative gives 2007. Lam Soon’s 2014 report documents Naturel olive oil then. La Tourangelle’s 1867 nut-oil heritage is not olive-oil history; its certifier record establishes the olive line by 2015. Graza’s identified specialist record is recent; La Diva’s actual olive producer/duration is unresolved.
Terra’s visible lot-input program describes region, mill, bottling and chemistry disclosure; no real lot output was entered. Costa’s visible lookup accepts the two named lines. General producer process/quality statements support only the lower assurance band where no current external EVOO certifier record was recovered. Food-safety, organic status and PDO origin are not automatically sensory/chemistry conformity.
Swiss 2025 tests: mixed results, no brand-wide failure
ResearchRecorded 2026-10-04
ACSI’s July 2025 reproduction of the FRC test reports middling overall results and weak labeling for its Swiss Filippo Berio Classico and Bertolli samples. Both have positive chemistry/sensory components and are not the products downgraded to virgin in that table. Regional mixed findings qualify reputation; they do not establish a current Malaysian failure or supply an invented penalty.
Bertolli’s olive-oil producer site identifies its origin in 1865. Heritage is credited as olive-oil experience, not nationality, sales popularity or proof of present-lot quality.
Current buying facts retained under reputation order
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
All current structured stock statuses remain unknown; table labels preserve Unknown, Conflicting for Filippo’s contradictory index and Sold out (index) for Terra’s dated listing. Harvest/age remains Unverified for every bottle reference. These facts and owner/control labels do not affect reputation bands or ranks. Promotional, line-match and import qualifications remain visible.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Monini’s named Italian monocultivars appear in Olive Japan’s 2025 winner list; NYIOOC’s organizer report confirms three named Italian Golds in 2026. Producer history starts in 1920. Classico is a separate blend from those medal oils. No current NAOOA certified-product record or consumer lot-quality lookup was established in this audit; producer quality controls remain attributed.
Cobram Estate: brand reputation, separate regional lines
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
Olive Japan’s 2024/2025 records name Cobram’s Australian Classic and other oils; Los Angeles’s 2026 organizer book recognizes California Cobram oils. OOCC lists California Cobram in good standing for 2025/26; that verification does not cover Australian Classic. Cobram’s producer dates its olive-growing operation to 1998 and describes origin, milling, bottling and batch control. No consumer lot-quality lookup was established here. COR and Lucini awards are not borrowed.
The International Taste Institute’s own 2024 record names Borges FRUITY, a monovarietal distinct from Original EVOO. Producer history explicitly documents olive-oil exports in 1957 and branded packaged oils in 1964; the 1896 general-food date is not used as olive-oil duration. Current product pages identify blend/process details. NAOOA membership and the separately certified STAR brand do not certify Borges-branded oil. No current independent EVOO-verification record or consumer lot lookup was established here.
Olitalia: organizer recognition and specialist history
OfficialRecorded 2026-10-04
The 2024 Milan organizer’s winner list names Olitalia La nostra Riserva. This is not a medal for generic supermarket EVOO. Olitalia’s 2023 issuer report documents more than forty years packaging/distributing EVOO and seed oils. Its producer distinguishes traditional, origin-specific, monocultivar and flavored lines. General QA claims are not current independently confirmed EVOO certification; trade membership, food-safety certification and producer-reported chef popularity do not supply that proof.
After the independent review, four previously retained omission leads were researched and included: Monini, Borges, Olitalia and Cobram Estate. This edition contains nineteen brands and twenty product references, with two Costa oils sharing one rank. The user-requested reputation basis remains independent recognition 40%, assurance 30%, olive-oil experience 20%, transparency 10%, fixed before candidate research. Bands 0–4 generate ordinal editorial reputation ranks; no measured oil-quality score is adopted. Stock, price, imports, nationality and popularity are excluded. Equal indices share competition ranks and alphabetical order only inside ties.

Review resolutions: assurance and recommendation scopes
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
Assurance requires a current certifier record to establish external EVOO verification. Terra’s producer-described PDO origin and lot lookup do not, by themselves, establish such a current certifier record in this audit; its Q=2 remains. COR’s Q=4 combines the independently confirmed OOCC program with described consumer lot-quality disclosure; Terra has disclosure without that outside verification. These are distinct evidence combinations. Food Network’s original comparative review earns Frankies I=2 while Bon Appétit’s individual favorite earns La Tourangelle I=1; this distinction is review method, not whether an award transfers to the displayed line. Both line limits remain visible. Formal corporate-control jurisdictions retain dated source limits; manager headquarters are not substituted for legal ownership vehicles.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
The Milan 2024 organizer list also names Salov/Filippo Berio Italian lines, including Metodo Berio, and Costa d’Oro 100% Italiano and other named lines. Combined with the positive 2025 Italian consumer comparison, Filippo and Costa satisfy the fixed band-4 condition: recent positive recognition across different years and independent organizations. Basso/Sabino Basso Ravece appears as well, corroborating a single-year positive record without resolving the London archive year. These are portfolio reputation records, not a guarantee for generic Malaysian bottles.
The final one-band sensitivity calculation changes one criterion for one brand while all other brands stay fixed. Index shifts are 10 for recognition, 7.5 assurance, 5 experience and 2.5 transparency. The resulting rank ranges are deterministic scenarios, not uncertainty/confidence intervals. The top band is a public-evidence threshold, not perfect oil; nearby positions can tie or reverse. Thin public records can place brands lower without proving inferior oil.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
California Olive Ranch final reputation assessment
JudgementRecorded 2026-10-04
California Olive Ranch final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/4/4/4; internal reputation index 100.00; competition rank 1; one-band rank range 1–1. Recognition in different years and organizations; COR awards kept separate from Lucini. Current OOCC record plus producer-described bottle QR quality/origin documentation. Documented olive-oil operation since 1998. Clear line/origin disclosures and described consumer smart-label system.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Cobram Estate final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/3/4/3; internal reputation index 90.00; competition rank 2; one-band rank range 2–5. Organizer-confirmed record; exact-line limits retained. Named product lines and process/origin disclosure; no consumer lot-quality lookup established.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Filippo Berio final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/3/4/3; internal reputation index 90.00; competition rank 2; one-band rank range 2–5. Positive recognition across 2024 Milan and 2025 Altroconsumo, with Swiss mixed findings retained. Current NAOOA product record and usable origin/process disclosure. Documented olive-oil history since 1867. Named producer and distinct standard/origin-specific lines.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Costa d’Oro final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/2/4/4; internal reputation index 85.00; competition rank 4; one-band rank range 2–6. Positive recognition across 2024 Milan and 2025 Altroconsumo, without transferring all results to each bottle. Usable producer lot/origin lookup; current external EVOO verifier not established. Producer history of EVOO operation from 1968. Named lines and consumer batch-number lookup.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Lucini final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/2/4/4; internal reputation index 85.00; competition rank 4; one-band rank range 2–6. Named competition recognition in 2025 and 2026 across organizers. Producer-described consumer disclosure program; external Applied Sensory client confirmation not recovered. Issuer documents olive-oil brand founded 1997. Line-specific Italian origin and shared standards-page smart-label disclosure, uninspected bottle output.
Refer's author judgement under the guide's published rubric, not an independent test or market measurement.
Terra Creta final I/Q/E/T bands = 4/2/3/4; internal reputation index 80.00; competition rank 6; one-band rank range 4–7. Organizer winner recognition in 2021 and ESAO 2024/25. Visible consumer lot/quality lookup; current external EVOO verifier not independently confirmed. 2001 founding; exact anniversary unresolved, conservatively at least ten years. All final one-band scenarios were reproduced from fixed weights and bands. The range for each brand is the minimum and maximum competition rank across its valid one-band changes, with other brands fixed; it is not a confidence interval. Calculations exclude buying/ownership fields entirely.
Calculated from the recorded inputs. This is not a separately observed market price.
The same source classes—organizer records, certifier lists, original reviews and producer/issuer histories—were checked for the original brands and four omission leads. No qualifying post-2020 independent positive oil record was recovered for Robinvale, Ybarra, Naturel or La Diva. Failed fetches, language/indexing differences and competition submissions can understate a record; zero recognition here is not bad oil. The nineteen-brand field is broader than the original comparison but not a world census. Older awards and marketing/popularity awards remain outside the fixed independent-oil criterion.

Monini Classico, Borges Original EVOO, Olitalia traditional EVOO and Australian Cobram Estate Classic remain product references with no current exact-SKU Malaysian checkout price/stock or inspected harvest established. Cobram’s current issuer record establishes its Australian corporate jurisdiction under the same holding-chain display rule used for COR/Lucini. Its owner/control cell is Australia; the other three remain Unverified without a comparable formal majority/control record. These facts do not alter reputation bands or ranks.

COR and Lucini have been under the Cobram group since the completed acquisition on 26 March 2026. This shared control is disclosed on the short page; their award and reputation records remain separate. The owner/control column describes documented holding jurisdictions, not oil origin or ultimate-investor citizenship.
Research record retained on file; no public source link was recorded.
Olive Japan’s 2024 organizer winner list includes COR Olio Nuovo and Global Medium/Robust. Together with the independently confirmed named 2026 NYIOOC/Los Angeles results, this corroborates different award years and organizers for COR without depending solely on a culinary favorite. These portfolio awards are not blanket awards for every current 100% California lot.
